What is SSD Hosting and what are the advantages?
SSD Hosting has been taking the Australian web hosting industry by storm over the past few years as SSD drives have become more cost effective for providers to implement. Every time you go to a website, files need to be read off a disk and from a database to be then sent over a network to a web browser. How can SSD improve my website speed?
Websites are made up of thousands of files, each of which are located in different sectors of a servers storage array. When a traditional spinning hard drive needs to access these it needs to go back and forth to read each file preventing the servers CPU from being able to process these files into the website content that is then sent to the visitor to your website. SSD drives offer a magnitude higher IOPS (Input and Output Operations per Second) allowing the files to be accessed and provided to PHP for processing faster.
The end result of this is a drop in your time to first byte for your website visitors, allowing for your website to render faster in their browsers.
Is it important to host on Australian Servers?

Having been around since the early 2000’s it spent a lot of time competing with other commercial control panels such as Plesk and some open-source options such as Webmin as the best choice for a web hosting control panel. Over the past decade it has proven to be the dominant control panel due to the exceptional feature range and security for clients that the majority of web hosting providers now choose this as their product of choice for web hosting.
Some of the biggest advantages for cPanel are on the client side, rather than the server-side. The control panel makes it very easy for clients to migrate between web hosting providers using the inbuilt cPanel backups. How does DDoS Protection help my website?

Why do you use CloudLinux?
CloudLinux has become the standard amongst cPanel Australian web hosts to ensure service stability across all hosting accounts. It’s primary function is to ensure that no single web hosting account can adversely affect all the other web hosting accounts on the same web hosting server. It achieves this by setting limits on the amount of CPU, RAM, disk IO and entry processes that each individual cPanel account can use.

How do you protect against hacking attempts?
Our Australian cPanel shared web hosting service has a collection of mod_security rules that will block the IP address of an attacker upon a defined limit of incorrect login attempts for popular Content Management Systems. In addition to this all our servers have built in malware detection and exploit scanners. This allows for us to intercept malicious uploads as they occur and quarantine the malicious files based on the fingerprint of known malicious code, whilst also performing periodic checks of all website files that have been uploaded to website hosting accounts.
We find that the best protection for client’s sites however is initiated by the developer or client as keeping your CMS and plugins up to date is the best method of preventing your website from being hacked.
